Tattooing is one of the last truly human art forms. Every piece is permanent. Every client relationship is personal. Every artist has a style that took years — sometimes a lifetime — to develop.

We built TheRoom.ink because the tools available to tattoo artists were heading in the wrong direction.

THE PROBLEM WITH THE MARKET

The market leader charges artists nothing upfront — then takes 10% of every booking. A client books a £100 deposit. They pay £110. The extra £10 goes to the platform. The artist never knows the client saw that fee and went elsewhere. They just lose the booking.

That model only works if you don't think too hard about it. The platform isn't on the artist's side. It's extracting value from every transaction, invisibly, forever.

Then there's AI. Platforms are adding AI booking agents, AI DM responses, AI scheduling assistants. The pitch is efficiency. The reality is that tattooing is one of the few industries where efficiency is exactly the wrong thing to optimise for.

A client choosing a tattoo artist isn't booking a service. They're choosing a person. A style. A relationship. Nobody wants to book a permanent piece of art through a chatbot.

WHAT WE BUILT INSTEAD

TheRoom.ink is a flat monthly fee. No per-booking fees. No commission. No AI anywhere on the platform — not in the booking flow, not in the dashboard, not in the emails, not in the marketing.

Artists get a clean booking page at their own URL. Clients describe what they want, pick a date, and submit their request with reference images and placement details already captured. The artist reviews it and confirms or declines. If they decline, any deposit is refunded automatically. Simple.

We built it in the UK, for UK artists, in GBP, with UK bank payouts. Because the existing tools were built for a global market and feel like it.

THE PRICING

The standard rate is £25/month — less than the cost of a single pack of cartridge needles. No per-booking cuts, ever. For artists joining during the beta, founder pricing codes are available at signup that lock in a reduced rate for your first 24 months.

The moment a platform takes a cut of every transaction, its incentives diverge from the artist's. We don't want that misalignment. Flat fee, aligned incentives.

WHO WE ARE

TheRoom.ink is built by Cameron Hughes, based in Upminster, England. It started as a frustration with the tools available and turned into a platform.

We're not a VC-backed startup optimising for growth at any cost. We're a flat-fee product that needs to be genuinely useful to the artists who use it. That's the whole business model. If artists don't find it valuable, it doesn't work.

THE PHILOSOPHY

No AI. Not because AI is inherently bad — but because this industry doesn't need it, and the artists we've spoken to don't want it. The craft is human. The relationship is human. The booking process should be too.
